A *very* rough draft!

I'm learning how to develop video games! I've been in the "wanting to learn how to do it" phase for about 30 years, and am finally getting to the actively learning how to do it.

My first big project is this, tentatively titled Space Shooter. It's a vertically scrolling space shooting action arcade game. It's only taken me about a day so far to put something together that mostly works. Right now, most of the game assets are from the Unity Asset Store, and I'll link the assets I've included below.

They say your first 10 games or so will suck. I'm hoping this game, while not exactly innovative, doesn't suck, even if it doesn't blow anyone's mind.

I have worked on a few simple projects over the last two months while learning how to build a video game. Nothing really worth sharing yet, until I remembered playing Xevious on NES way back in the 80s and I thought, I could make something like that!

If you're looking to get started in game dev, I definitely recommend the learn.unity.com series of courses to get going, along with downloading Unity. Other game engine options include Godot and Unreal, but I've found Unity to be pretty much exactly what I'm looking for at this point. Don't get too hung up on which engine you pick, just pick one and get going.

Other sources of information include YouTube, such as Brackeys' channel.

For this game, I used the following assets:

I may swap some of these out for my own in the future, we'll see. I wrote all the code myself.
